Remember that time when you spent the entire day naked…..

Well, that was interesting!

It all began a few months ago when my cousins L&G asked if they could take me to a spa/sauna for the day as a birthday present.  Now, I’m not one to say no to a good relaxing session (sans children), so of course I jumped at the chance.

The link to the gorgeous spa was sent my way.  The spa was set on a property that bordered a massive lake, it had numerous saunas (steam/hot/infrared/sound therapy etc) and an outdoor pool and restaurant with a delicious menu.

It’s not uncommon, in fact, I think it’s a given that when you attend a spa/sauna here, you surrender your clothes on your way in.  Yes, that’s right, you spend the entire time in the buff.

In a week of preparation, a lot of salad was consumed,  there were more running sessions and I even contemplated a few crunches (meh, who am I kidding, I didn’t even contemplate them).

To be honest, I was quite nervous.  I love my cousins, but do I want to sit around naked with them, just shooting the breeze?  I wasn’t sure.

So, armed with a towel and a bath robe and not much else, we ventured into the sauna/spa.

My first encounter with a naked middle aged man doing breast stroke (complete with the frog kick) really set the tone for the day.  My robe, and inhibitions were cast aside.

Not my photo…. Just to give you an idea of what my eyeballs had to deal with today.  They are still burning.

What a fabulous day.  You learn to look people in the eye (for obvious reasons).  You also learn that very few people look good naked.  You learn that spas/saunas seem very popular with the retirees (my eyeballs hurt!)

Not us, but totally representative of us!

Would I do it again?  Absolutely, in a heart beat.  There is something to be said for sunbaking naked.

For good reasons, there are no selfies to accompany this blog.
