After a few false starts, we are super pleased to share that we are expecting a little brother or sister for Miss A!
Miss A shares the great news…..
Today was the 20 week scan and all is going well. The baby is perfect, happy and bouncing away.
Its’ been a rocky start to this pregnancy. Not everything going to plan and every milestone we reached has been celebrated.
Navigating our way around the Dutch medical system has been interesting. As soon as I found out I was pregnant, the GP handed me over the midwives. Our GP will no longer have anything to do with our pregnancy.
The midwives are lovely. The clinic has five and over the course of my pregnancy, I’ll meet them all. I feel like I’m in the best hands, and I have complete confidence that they know what they’re doing.
The Dutch as a whole (in my experience) are keen on as little medical intervention as possible. This can be frustrating as they are loathe to prescribe antibiotics and sometimes you’re not sure they’re taking you seriously. As a family, we take prescription drugs sparingly, and we subscribe to the same beliefs, but if I’ve got tonsillitis, you don’t want to be standing between me and some antibiotics! The same goes for childbirth. They’re keen on nature taking its course.
All going well, you can choose to have your baby at home (in a pool, or in your own bed, or on the lounge). I, however, will be having a baby wherever the epidural is!
Stay tuned, this is going to be a funny, frustrating and at times petrifying ride (and I’m just talking about the Dutch medical system).
This is fantastic news and the Miss A reaction piece is priceless

Thanks Roy – she is a funny duck. She has no idea what's going on, but loves to have her photo taken.
